  • Left his tenured job at Stanford for Notre Dame because of South Bend’s fabulous weather, restaurants, and cultural attractions
  • Can be seen in spandex riding his Colnago C-50 on the country roads of southwestern Michigan (and he’s never tested positive—or even been tested—for performance enhancing drugs)
  • Multiple avocations include percussion (since 5th grade) and calligraphy (since high school)
  • Had a previous student career as a philosopher, which coincided with three years living and studying at Louvain in Belgium (where Flemings and Walloons haven’t yet realized that spectacular chocolate and outstanding beer are the keys to overcoming their differences)
  • Can often be found at 5:15 daily Mass in the Basilica
