"During my second semester freshman year I took Anthropology with Dr. McKenna. He’s such a popular professor that normally his classes are filled with hundreds of students, and his intro class is held in the largest lecture hall in the school. But because I was in the Honors Program I got to take Intro to Anthro with Dr. McKenna in a small seminar class. I loved Anthropology so much I picked it up as a second major. It is because of Dr. McKenna that I became interested in anthropology. He is such a jovial, energetic, and caring person. He shows me the human side of being a professor more than anyone else.
"I knew I wanted to study abroad in order to experience education in another country and to travel. I have always loved experiencing different cultures, and have always known that I wanted to study abroad. When the opportunity to study at Oxford was presented to me, I knew I wanted to go there. It was a wonderful experience to be totally integrated into the Oxford education system as well as to experience life as an Oxford undergraduate. I also received an Honors Program grant which, along with additional grants from ND, allowed me to travel to Uganda, Africa to do independent research on women’s issues at an HIV/AIDS clinic.
" Professor Delaney has been a wonderful source of encouragement. He is simply a fun, witty, and somewhat sarcastic person to talk to. While not so much an ‘academic’ mentor or advisor, Professor Delaney has been perhaps more of a life mentor for me. I always appreciate his comments, both of praise and criticism."
