Noah Bongiovanni

Major: Piano Performance and Pre-Health Studies
Research Location: The University of Chicago

Noah's research explored the phenomenon of absolute pitch (AP), an uncommonly rare skill that allows a person to identify the pitch of a heard sound without the need for a reference. While at the University of Chicago, he worked in Stephen van Hedger's lab coding a website for an experiment and analyzing 100,000 lines of data they obtained from test subjects

Noah says, "as a music major, I was able to use my knowledge of digital music production and music theory to conceptualize and build the experiment from scratch. My STEM supplemental major gave me the skills to understand the science behind the research process and the ability to think critically about the psychological theory behind our results."
