Name: Caroline Egan
Major: Political Science and Global Affairs
Research Location: New York
Caroline served as an International Relations intern with the Sant'Egidio Foundation for Peace and Dialogue, a lay Catholic organization dedicated to social service. Prior to her internship, Caroline completed a semester-long internship on Capitol Hill through the ND Washington Program. Her general distaste for American politics and the Hill drew her most to more international-focused internships. While at Sant'Egidio, Caroline researched materials for Foundation initiatives. She also liaised with congressional staffers on behalf of the Foundation (as head Congressional Liaison), coordinating meeting logistics and materials. Finally she organized Foundation social media communications and weekly executive team meetings.
Caroline says, "After graduation, I plan to pursue law school after a gap year working in the international relations space. This experience confirmed my passion for international issues and service abroad. It also expanded my interest to conflict mediation and negotiation. Above all, my time at Sant'Egidio empowered me to see myself in these spaces."
