Name: Dylan Hockx

Majors: English and Political Science
Research Location: Beijing, China

Dylan completed a foreign language internship in Beijing, China through Notre Dame Global's Global Professional Experience Program (GPE). While there, Dylan focused on improving his Chinese language skills, while also visiting local libraries and cultural sites. These experiences will supplement his senior thesis work, which will be a comparative study on Western modernist and Chinese literature.

Dylan says, "My initial motivations to participate in the GPE program were mainly centered around improving my Chinese reading skills, while also finding resources for my upcoming senior thesis. While I did achieve both of these goals, I also gained a newfound desire to continue serving the migrant worker community, researching the political history which caused their current situation, and attempting to set up a lasting relationship between the University of Notre Dame and Beijing Facilitators."
