Major: History
Research Location: Washington, D.C.

Emily is studying the development of American history textbooks over the course of the twentieth century, focusing on the presence of women's history in those textbooks. She is interested in understanding how the women's liberation movement of the 1970s has shaped historians' understanding of our shared past. For her research, she traveled to the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. to research in their archives.

Emily says, "I plan to go to law school after graduation. This experience helped close the door on a Master's degree (which I had been considering in addition to law school) because, while I enjoyed the research, part of my enjoyment was the novelty of it. I became more firm in my decision that law school is the best place for me after I graduate."
