Francine Shaft

Major: Theology/Japanese
Location: Hokadote, Japan

To prepare for her senior thesis, Francine spent the summer studying 2nd Year Japanese in an intensive language course. She also stayed with  a host family and conducted an independent  study project on the modern Catholic Church in Japan.

Francine says, "I was drawn to this program because I wanted to accelerate my language skills, I wanted to go out of my comfort zone and stay with a family, and I thought that the independent project requirement of the program would help me explore my interests for a senior thesis."
